SAN

A SAN is a method of having 'intelligent' and independent disks on a network. These disks can then viewed by the network clients as one large storage block.With a SAN, digital video data can be simultaneously accessed and used by multiple computer based video devices with no need for local storage. Instead of having to make a copy of a video to get it from one side of a facility to another, a SAN allows multiple users on opposite sides of the facility to use the same video at the same time with no copies necessary, at fiber channel speed.
